RV College of Engineering Admission Procedure 2026

A complete walkthrough of the three admission routes into RVCE — KCET, COMEDK and management quota — and exactly what happens at each step.

RV College of Engineering fills its undergraduate seats through three parallel routes, each with its own body, timeline and process. Understanding which route you’re on — and what happens next — avoids the two most common admission mistakes: missing a document deadline, or assuming an entrance exam isn’t needed for management quota.

Route 1: KCET (Government Quota)

KCET seats are allotted centrally by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), based on your KCET rank. You do not apply to RVCE directly for this route — you register on the KEA portal, fill your college and branch preferences (“option entry”), and KEA allots a seat based on your rank and choices. If RVCE-CSE is allotted to you, you report to RVCE with your allotment order and original documents for verification within the window KEA specifies.

Route 2: COMEDK UGET

COMEDK works similarly to KCET but is run by the COMEDK consortium and is open to candidates from any state, not just Karnataka. You take the COMEDK UGET exam, get a rank, then participate in COMEDK’s own centralised counselling — filling preferences and receiving allotments across multiple rounds.

Exam: May 9, 2026  •  Result: May 29, 2026  •  Counselling registration: from June 2026, across three main rounds plus a supplementary round

Route 3: Management Quota (Direct to RVCE)

This is the route where the process is entirely different — you don’t go through KEA or COMEDK counselling. Instead:

Contact the RSST trust office directly — not KEA, not COMEDK. Applications open around March and run through July.

Submit your KCET or COMEDK scorecard along with your PUC marks — a valid entrance score is still required even on this route.

RVCE verifies eligibility — minimum aggregate, PUC subject combination, and confirms branch availability against remaining institutional seats.

Provisional allotment issued, followed by fee payment directly to RVCE/RSST by demand draft or bank transfer against an official receipt.

Final confirmation once fees clear — you’re then registered for classes alongside KCET and COMEDK admits.
A key timing detail
Under the 2025-26 government condition, seats remaining after two KCET counselling rounds are only handed to college managements roughly 10 days before the last day of counselling. This pushes genuine, confirmed management-seat availability later into the cycle than many families expect — patience in May and June often pays off in July.

A Note on Timing Overlap

You can pursue all three routes simultaneously — there’s no rule against registering for KCET, COMEDK, and also enquiring about management quota. In fact, this is the sensible strategy: keep your options open until you have a confirmed seat you’re happy with, then withdraw from the others. Just be aware that withdrawing after paying management-quota fees may involve forfeiture of a booking amount — confirm the refund policy in writing before paying.
