    QUICK ANSWER

Engineering college fees in Bangalore depend mainly on your admission route. For 2026-27, KEA’s provisional fee notification puts KCET seats at government colleges under ₹50,000 a year and KCET seats at private unaided colleges at roughly ₹1.2–1.3 lakh a year. COMEDK seats are higher, indicatively around ₹2–3 lakh a year. Management quota seats are set by each college and broadly run from about ₹3 lakh to ₹15 lakh or more a year, depending on college and branch. Hostel, university and other charges are extra. Always confirm the current-year figure on the official KEA, COMEDK or college website before paying.

How Engineering Fees Work in Karnataka

Karnataka doesn’t have one engineering fee. It has a fee per route, per college type and, for some routes, per branch:

    • KCET seats carry fees notified by the state through KEA, which vary by college type (government, aided, private unaided, private university) and the student’s category.
    • COMEDK seats carry the consortium’s fee for private unaided colleges, which is higher than the KCET fee at the same college.
    • Management quota seats carry the college’s own published fee, which varies by branch and is the highest of the three.

Private college fees are revised periodically through agreements between the state and private college associations. A 7.5% hike was approved for private engineering colleges in 2025-26, and those revisions flow into the 2026-27 figures.

    KCET Engineering Fees 2026-27

KEA published the provisional UGCET 2026-27 fee structure in July 2026. The broad picture for general merit candidates is:

College Type (KCET Seat)Indicative Annual Fee, 2026-27
Government engineering collegesUnder ₹50,000 (lower for some core branches)
Private unaided engineering collegesRoughly ₹1.2 – ₹1.3 lakh
Supernumerary quota (SNQ) and eligible reserved categoriesSignificantly reduced or waived, subject to income and category rules

These are per-year figures for seats allotted through KEA counselling. The exact payable amount appears on your allotment and challan, and is published at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. Check the final notification before counselling, as provisional figures can be revised.

    COMEDK Engineering Fees

COMEDK seats at private unaided colleges carry a fee higher than the KCET fee at the same college, commonly around ₹2 – ₹3 lakh a year in tuition. The figure is published by COMEDK for each cycle at comedk.org, and colleges add their own university and other charges on top.

COMEDK is open to students from all states, which makes it the main counselling route for non-Karnataka students. Participating colleges, seats and the counselling process are covered in our COMEDK engineering colleges in Bangalore guide.

    Management Quota Engineering Fees

Management quota fees are set by each college and priced by demand. Across Bangalore they broadly run from about ₹3 lakh a year at mid-tier colleges to ₹15 lakh or more a year for CSE at the most sought-after colleges. Premium branches such as CSE, AI & ML, Data Science and Information Science cost the most; core branches cost the least.

Many colleges don’t publish a consolidated management fee table, so figures online are often estimates. Our detailed management quota fees for engineering colleges in Bangalore guide explains the bands college by college, and the management quota admission process guide explains how and when these seats are filled.

    What this means in practice

If you have a usable KCET or COMEDK rank, counselling is almost always the cheaper route over four years. Management quota makes sense when the rank isn’t there, when your preferred branch has closed in counselling, or when you need certainty earlier. If you don’t have a rank at all, see direct admission in Bangalore engineering colleges.

Hostel and Other Costs in Bangalore

Quoted tuition is rarely the full bill. Budget separately for:

    • University and institutional charges: exam, registration, library, lab and skill-training components. Commonly ₹40,000 – ₹60,000 a year at private colleges.
    • One-time charges: admission or development charges in the first year at some colleges.
    • Hostel and mess: typically ₹1.2 – ₹2.5 lakh a year in Bangalore, depending on room sharing and whether mess is included.
    • Transport: for day scholars commuting across the city.
    • Books, laptop and project costs: modest but real, especially for CSE-family branches.

Four-Year Engineering Cost Estimate in Bangalore

An indicative tuition-only estimate over four years, before hostel and extra charges and assuming periodic fee revisions:

    RouteIndicative Four-Year Tuition
    KCET at a private unaided college~₹5 – ₹6 lakh
    COMEDK~₹8 – ₹12 lakh
Management quota~₹12 lakh to ₹60 lakh+, depending on college and branch

Add hostel, mess and university charges to get a realistic total. When comparing colleges, always compare four-year totals on the same basis rather than first-year figures. Call us for updated details on current-year figures for your shortlist.

    Scholarships and Education Loans

    • Government fee concessions: KCET seats have category- and income-based concessions notified by KEA.
    • State and central scholarships: check the Karnataka State Scholarship Portal and the National Scholarship Portal for eligibility.
    • College scholarships and waivers: many colleges offer merit or sports waivers; ask for the conditions in writing.
    • Education loans: banks lend against a receipted, college-issued fee structure. Unreceipted amounts can’t be financed, which is one more reason to pay only official fees.

Fee figures on this page are indicative and based on official notifications where available. Fees change every cycle, and admission depends on eligibility, seat availability, institution policy and government regulation.

    Bangalore Engineering College Fees: FAQs

What is the average engineering college fee in Bangalore?

It depends on the route. For 2026-27, a KCET seat at a private unaided college is roughly ₹1.2–1.3 lakh a year, a COMEDK seat roughly ₹2–3 lakh, and a management quota seat anywhere from about ₹3 lakh to ₹15 lakh or more a year, before hostel and other charges.

Which is cheaper, KCET or COMEDK?

KCET. At the same private unaided college, the KCET seat fee is lower than the COMEDK seat fee, and both are lower than management quota.

Are engineering fees in Bangalore per year or for the full course?

KEA and COMEDK fees are quoted per year. Management quota figures are sometimes quoted per year and sometimes as a four-year total, so always ask which one you’re being given.

    Do engineering fees include hostel?

No. Hostel and mess are charged separately and typically cost ₹1.2–2.5 lakh a year in Bangalore.

Where can I check the official engineering fee structure?

KCET fees are published by KEA at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in, COMEDK fees at comedk.org, and management quota fees by each college’s admission office.
